WE HAVE AN AMAZING TIMETABLE - this will be a truly special celebration.

So, on this day, there will be a number of special events. You can enjoy them all and still be on our special which departs New Romney at 12:10 for Dungeness where there is time to buy lunch or eat sandwiches before a fast run to Hythe stopping only at the Romney Warren Halt to allow a photo run-past of our train and hopefully a photo of the Down non-stop coming through at speed. At Hythe there will be time for tea and a short speech or two to mark the occasion before we get our non-stop run to new Romney via Dungeness.

The other big event is that at 11:30 there is a public unveiling of a celebratory red wheel plaque recording the achievement of Sir William and his team over so many years - at New Romney. The plaque marks New Romney as a Transport Heritage Site. It will be great to applaud this moment too. The following words are from Danny Martin, who designed the timetable:

"It puts all available locos on the train in logical pairs and adds Hercules to the Chief, Maid combination for a triple headed finale.

The unveiling is scheduled for 11.30 allowing time for those going on the Parade parallel to return and then board the 12.10 special.

It starts after the red wheel unveiling ceremony and allows for Sir William to jointly flag the train off or ride on it dependent on his time availability should that be desired.

There is a halt at Dungeness for engine changing 12.35 to 1.25 and we would anticipate offering a fish and chip take away or sandwich lunch pack (crisps etc) meal option allowing folks to return to the train when they wished to see the engine changeovers.

Train then proceeds to Romney Warren where the option to alight whilst the train reverses for run by followed by passing of 1.35 Kent Coast Express (obviously some careful marshalling of people required) then off to Hythe

Tea and cake in the vintage tea room/hall 2.32 to 3.40

3.40 19 mile non-stop triple headed to end the day"

You can book online using this link: Special Train Booking Form. (Note: this is only a supplement for travelling on the Special Train. To travel on any other trains you will need to purchase an Association Special Event Romney Rover from the railway on the day.)

The online form gives you the CHOICE of paying online by PayPal (which the Association uses for online memberships) or by cheque/postal order. I assume everyone who receives this email can use the form - but you do not have to make any electronic payment. That is just an option, which is preferable from our point of view as it saves admin time.

I hope those who have not yet booked will now do so; and those who have will be delighted by the schedule planned.

with best wishes
